Ah yes, the money thing, did I mention that we need to make money?  Signs don't have to be expensive, but an inexpensive sign may not portray what you want to your customers.  There are a few things that you should consider when budgeting your hard earned dollar on a new sign.

There are several layers of signage at any store, resort, home, or facility.  Each level has a different purpose and a different return as far as what it is going to earn.  If the sign is designed to earn you money, such as an advertising sign, then you might want to budget more for that sign.  A banner in the front of your establishment that is presented as your main marquee will not portray a business very strongly.  Although that's only true if the purpose of the banner is to advertise.  Informational signs can also advertise, but is not necessarily designed to be the main draw for people to come in, such as the lunch special for the day.

What is it that we are saying.  Signs range from $30 to $100,000 dollars, depending on what you want.  I would think that you do not want to spend $10,000 on an OSHA requirement sign, but would spend that on a great looking lightbox that attracts tons of customers.  Here are some basic areas with some APPROXIMATE numbers for your budgeting purposes.  Now each job is very different, and there are many factors that determine price from one job to another.  This would be good for getting a ballpark idea of what you want in your head.
